It’s Not Just the Camera

I’m constantly asked what camera I enjoy using, when on a photo shoot or just enjoying a day of taking random pictures. It’s such a hard question to answer because I just don’t have one.

When I 1st started taking pictures I used anything I could get my hands on, I didn’t know one end of the camera from the other, sometimes I still feel that way. Throughout the years I’ve gone through a lot cameras;

· Kodak Instamatic x-15 – my first camera

· Minolta XG1 – My Dad’s Camera, which I got to use when I was on my best behavior

· Leica M7

· Pentax ME Super

· Canon Sappy 30

· Polaroid 600

· Canon Elph 2

· Nikon N60

· Nikon N80

· Kodak C875– 1st move to the digital world

· Nikon D80

Some loyal as can be, others pure junk, but all I can say it that the adventures that my camera’s and I have gone through have been priceless. Find the camera that fits you, your personality and just start shooting.

It never surprises me when an onlooker says, “your pictures are great, it must be the camera.” I’ve met prize winning photographers using nothing but a point and shoot, and not so good photographers using camera’s costing close to $5K. It doesn’t matter what camera I have in my hand, it doesn’t matter what camera you have in your hand. It’s all about the story that is captured with the one photo or the series of photos that makes the world of difference.
